Lymphoma: a Silent Childhood Cancer

Millions of kids are now diagnosed with lymphoma and it is very saddening that they have to suffer such disease at early age. Most of these children are below 20 years old. In most cases, people do not have any control to stop the development of the disease as well as to know why the lymphoma develops in the body. Though there are no studies that prove that childhood lymphoma has relation or caused by lifestyle but there are cases that children (non-cancer) with early exposure to radiation and chemotherapy has likely to develop lymphoma in later life. Experts also believe that lymphoma is also caused by abnormal genetic structure and mutation of the blood cells. Regular check up and laboratory exams may detect such abnormality and rule out the possible development of childhood lymphoma. These measures are done annually or quarterly because lymphoma is asymptomatic in its first stage.
